Pride in Place Programme

£20 million investment to transform neighbourhoods

Information about the programme

In September 2025, the Government announced that two areas in Southampton would benefit from up to £20 million of investment. This investment will take place over the next 10 years as part of the new Pride in Place Programme (PiPP). The two areas are Weston, and Redbridge & Millbrook West.

This flagship programme provides significant 10-year investment to drive community-led regeneration of hundreds of neighbourhoods across the country. The programme will bring together and empower local residents, businesses, and voluntary groups. They will create vibrant, safe, and inclusive places where people are proud to live and work.

A Neighbourhood Board will make decisions on how the funding is to be spent. An independent chair will lead the board which includes:

  • Residents

  • Local businesses

  • Civil society and community organisations

They will work in partnership with the council, MP, and local community.

Alongside PiPP, the wider Southampton area is set to benefit from the Pride in Place Impact Fund (PiPIF). PiPIF aims to provide investment to:

  • Restore pride in place

  • Support community cohesion

  • Stimulate local economic activity through visible, short-term, and community-led improvements

The PiPIF is a capital programme to be delivered by March 2027.
